What's My Purpose in Life?

Have you ever asked yourself this question?

Maybe you thought the purpose of life is to make more money so that you could buy all the things that make life easier.  The one with the most things at the end wins, right?

Or maybe you thought the purpose of life is to have fun, just enjoy the things you like whenever you like.  Get high and just forget about it all?

For some, the purpose of life is to be busy, to get through the day and clear your calendar.  You're always driven to accomplish goals.

For others, it's getting respect and recognition, getting power from all your accomplishments.  Throw yourself into your job or career so you can get ahead.

Are you just looking for peace of mind?   Would that satisfy you?  Or happiness?  But what is happiness for you?  Will it be the same next year as it is today?

Or is your purpose in life to keep from being lonely, so you join every group out there so you never have to be alone?

Think about this answer ...

Your purpose in life is not about you.  If you want to know your purpose in life you should go to the source, the beginning of your life, and see why you were made and by whom.

You were made by God.  You're a child of the King of creation.  You have an inheritance from the King.  Your purpose for living is his purpose.  You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.

What is God's purpose?

According to the Bible, God loved the world so much that he gave it his only son.  He did it so that no one need be destroyed.  By believing in him anyone can have a whole and lasting life.  God's son came to put the world right again.  Anyone who trusts in him will not face the finality of death, separation from God, but shall live forever with God and his son.

What is God's purpose?  He wants you to believe that his son, Jesus Christ, died for our sins.  He was buried, but he conquered death when he got up from his tomb on the third day, and then joined his father is heaven.

Jesus paid the ultimate price to save you and me from death, the penalty of sin.  We're created in the image and likeness of God.  But since Adam brought sin into the world, we've been in trouble.  As humans, our basic nature is to sin, just as a bird's nature is to fly or a fish's nature is to swim.  But God gives us another chance.  He will forgive our sins if we only do three things:

1)  Acknowledge you are a sinner.  That's easy, because even if you attempted to live without sin you'd fail.  We sin one way or another  every day.

2)  Believe that Jesus Christ is Lord.  He died, rose from the dead, and then took his place at the right hand of God to identify us as his own, bought with his own blood and sacrifice.  Jesus knew us before we were born, even before the beginning of time.  He knows we belong to him.  We must believe we belong to him.

3)  Confess your acknowledgement and belief!  That's all.  Just TELL God and the people you know that you've been born into a new life in Jesus.

That's it.  Simple as A, B, C.

What are you waiting for?

Many of us think that we'll accept God's gift of eternal life when we can get our mess cleaned up and get ready.  But are you sure you'll have the time?  You've heard stories of folks who worked all their lives, never taking a vacation, just to get to retirement so they can finally have a good life they always wanted.  Usually they're the ones who die on the way to the airport as they depart for their new retirement home.  No, time is not ours.  We don't know when our life will end.

God says come as you are.  Come now.  Join me now!

If you're ready for the gift of a new life, one with purpose, one that pleases God, and banishes death forever, why not say this prayer right now?

"Father, I admit that I am a sinner.  I know that nothing I do can earn me eternal life.  But I believe that Jesus Christ was born and lived without sin, yet he died for my sins, and he wants me with him in the kingdom of heaven.  I Thank you father for this gift, for choosing me before the beginning of the world.  Help me to learn more about you, Lord, and your son Jesus Christ."

If you just said this prayer, Heaven is rejoicing right now!  Welcome to the Light of the Life.  Your purpose in life is now the same purpose that directed Christ all his life.  It's the purpose of God the Father.  Welcome to the Kingdom!

Look for a FAMILY OF BELIEVERS who can walk beside you as they help you grow in faith in your new Christian life.  We recommend the local churches of the Norristown Ministerium.
